Tire Center

Quite possibly the most important part on your car are your tires, as they are the point of contact between your vehicle and the road. Without a proper set of tires, everything on your car can be affected from the ability to maneuver around cars and corners, the distance to come to a complete stop, as well as the efficiency your vehicle uses fuel. This is why it is important to have tires are designed for your vehicle and your area’s driving conditions. If your vehicle is ready for a new set up tires, contact Vardaman Honda today and choose from a large number of name brands that you can trust.
With a new set of tires on your vehicles, we’ve put together some tips to help you maintain your tires for the entirety of their life.
Checking Tire Pressure
Over the course of a month, on average, you will lose 1 psi plus 1 psi for each 8-degree change in temperature. Checking your tire pressure every month will help ensure that they are filled to the proper psi weight. Doing this will prevent the tires from creating abnormal wear patterns from under-inflation, maintain your vehicles fuel efficiency, and in maneuverability.
Inspect Tires Routinely
During a routine check of your tires, look for the following:
  • Uneven or excessive tread wear
  • Cracks and bulges throughout tire
  • Punctures from road debris
  • Any chunking or separating of tread
If you find any of these issues on your tires, get your vehicle to your local dealer to have the tires inspected further.
Rotate Tires
While we always recommend looking at your owner’s manual for tire rotation guides, the general consensus is to rotate your tires every 7,500 miles for even tread wear. On front and rear-wheel drive vehicles a ‘cross-stitch pattern’ is used, where the left rear tire will be switched with the right front tire. This pattern can be used on any tire that is not unidirectional, which is a tire that is not designed for a single rotational direction.
For all-wheel drive vehicles a lateral rotation is used, where the rear left goes to the rear right and the same for the front tires as well.
These simple steps will help you in getting the most out of your tires, while also ensuring your safety on your daily drives! If you have any questions please contact us, and we will be more than happy to assist you.
